Coconut Oil--The New Little Black Dress

It was brought to my attention today that not everyone is privy to the literal awesome sauce that is coconut oil.
 Weird huh?

It's like magic in a jar, it's uses are endless, it's second only to BM.  (That's breast milk for those not in the know.  Oh wait, you thought?... huh, that's just gross--moving on.) If you knew just how incredibly amazing this stuff was, you'd be using less chemicals on your body and in your home, plus, you'd save a bunch of dough.  Is it any wonder it isn't mainstream ;) PS-Your skin is the largest organ in your body, it takes just 26 seconds for chemicals applied to the skin to enter your bloodstream.

Forget more cowbell, you need more coconut oil.

So, without further ado, here is just a preview of CO's resume:

For around 17 dollars, you can easily replace a multitude of products and decrease the chemical laden crud seeping out of your medicine cabinet.

That price will get you 2 Nutiva Organic Unrefined coconut oil jars.
One for the kitchen, the other for the powder room.
You can buy it pretty much anywhere, I prefer to get mine on amazon.
This is NOT an affiliate link, I have no affiliation with amazon, just sharing what I purchase.
Nutiva 2 pack

One last thing, don't be fooled.
They sell processed hydrogenated oil and label it coconut oil, this stuff is pure artery clogging junk and tastes about as appealing as drinking canola oil.
There are many different quality brands out there that you can try, just make sure it is UNREFINED and VIRGIN.
You can't comare it to the LouAnna slop they sell at WalMart.

Now sit back and enjoy your new found, frugal, crunchy, healthy, smart chameleon of a product.

And that folks, is why coconut oil should be your new best friend.

Oh, you're still here? Want more coconut oil info? Do your research.  There are plenty of awesome places to start.  Here is a link to some more of the scientific data supporting why you need more coconut oil.

Sweet N Smokey Street Tacos

Sweet N Smokey Street Tacos

My usual go to with vegetarian tacos is to grab the frakenfood that is morningstar crumbles, add an envelope of taco seasoning, throw it on some soft tacos, add a small village of cheese and sour cream and devour.  Nothing special, nothing healthy.

Since doing the fix, I have given up my lust for processed shinola and adapted a more clean style.  I must say, it suits me.  So last night, I'm fiending for tacos and my freezer is sans soy crumbles.  What's a gal to do?

Born out of necessity and being hangry, is a super easy taco recipe that even my carnivore husband can get down to.

This recipe is 21 day fix friendly--Use low sodium broth, or skip it altogether-and use the southwest seasoning in your book in place of all natural taco seasoning.  These are (obviously) vegetarian and GF and so very easy to make.  The perfect weeknight dinner.  You can add shredded cheddar, just make sure to use your blue container.  Feeling like the sour cream is missing? Add a teaspoon or two of plain greek yogurt.  I know, I know, just try it Mikey, you'll like it.

I forgot to include smoked paprika.  This is worth going to the store for if you don't already have it.  Add 1.5 tsps or to taste.  I also added garlic powder. Play around with this, it's highly adaptable.  Next time I may sub kidney beans and butternut squash. mmmmmm

Coconut Blackberry Yogurt

1R, 1P, 1-2 spoons
A nice quick snack, or pair it with an omelette for a balanced breakfast.
My standby omelette is 2 eggs, 1 green of fresh spinach, 1 blue of extra-sharp Vermont cheddar, a splash of H2O, herbs de provence, rosemary & freshly ground black pepper.
I usually have it with 2 corn tortillas fried in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
Serve like soft tacos with hot sauce.  I
t's also good with a spoonful of salsa and a spoonful of plain yogurt.
